2008-2009 Budget

The City of College Park Finance Department offices are located in the City Hall Complex at 3667 Main Street.

College Park’s Finance Department includes the Accounting Department and Tax billing. On an annual basis the Finance Department prepares the City Budget, the City Audit and responds to audit inquiries.  The Accounting Department handles all of College Park’s Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Grants Management coordination. The Accounting staff compiles all documentation needed for the annual audit. Accounting staff works with all departments of the city to ensure all bills are paid in a timely manner and income is properly credited.

Data Processing is responsible for coordination of all the City’s information processing needs from maintenance and use of the mainframe AS400 system to email to personal computer assistance. The Data Processing Department works closely with the Accounting Department to ensure the mainframe system that processes all citizen payments is maintained and working properly. Data Processing staff works with Customer Service on Utility Billing statements and issues. Data Processing also works with Business and License Tax on tax payments and receipts. Insuring that all of the City’s departments have access to the Internet is the current primary task of Data Processing. Information Technology staff is in the process of evaluating levels of staff training and equipment available in order to have a unified approach to taking advantage of the latest technology developments for the benefit of its citizens.

Recognized with Two Awards
The City of College Park was recognized with two awards.  The first was the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA).  Another award was bestowed by Governor Sonny Perdue, who recognized the City for its relief efforts extended to victims of Hurricane Katrina.

City Taxes

The rollback rate of 9.3097 has been computed and the millage rate of 9.56 calculated for the fiscal year 2007-2008.  The millage rate of 9.56 is .2538 more than the rollback rate of 9.3062.  The City of College Park’s proposed millage rate of 9.56 is the same as the current millage rate. 

The College Park City Council has tentatively adopted a Special District Property Tax millage rate of 14.5 mills for fiscal year 2007-2008, which represents a 1.92 percent in the millage rate over the previous year.

The College Park City Council has tentatively adopted a Georgia International Convention Center Tax millage rate of 7.5 mills for fiscal year 2007-2008, which represents a 13.77 percent increase in the millage rate over the previous year.
